Disston hinged saw jointer

Disston hinged saw jointer (12-012-004) - $17 SOLD

The most important step in saw sharpening is the first - jointing the teeth. Without jointing, the points of the teeth are virtually guaranteed to be uneven, leading to an ill-cutting saw.

Although this jointer is not the prettiest one, it is in good working order. Little of the finish remains, but as a user, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Designed to use specific files that Disston made and sold (I really wish I had known what those file were the first time I saw them!), it will also hold files up to about 7/8" wide and 3/16" thick if you remove the screw on the end. The larger the file the better, but be aware that you will need to hold the file in place with your fingers (not a huge deal, and I think that may be why Disston made it with the holes in the side).
